WWE SummerSlam (2019) was a professional wrestling pay-per-view and WWE Network event produced by WWE for their Raw, SmackDown, and 205 Live brands. It took place on August 11, 2019, at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The self-proclaimed “biggest party of the summer” invaded Toronto on Sunday as WWE unveiled the 32nd annual SummerSlam card on a night that was very much a mixed bag. Don’t count WWE out. While NXT is considered to be the better wrestling show and AEW is the hot new thing in Grapple Town, WWE’s SummerSlam proved that the company can still put on an outstanding show. The show had no bad matches, flowed well and had a terrific main event.
For this viewer, it was plainly too safe overall in terms of booking for a show that represents the company’s second biggest pay-per-view of the year. In the end, seven titles were competed for over 12 matches on Sunday, and only one changed hands — in the main event of the show.
